Some client relationships unfold slowly. Others feel aligned from the very beginning. This one has been both & then some!
We began working with this family in February of 2024, initially partnering on what started as a series of interior updates. With four children and a full, vibrant household, the home needed to function beautifully while still feeling layered, intentional, and deeply personal. Over time, that scope grew to include the primary bedroom, living room, dining room, sitting room, all four children’s bedrooms, thoughtful touches in the bunk room, and renovated powder baths throughout the home.
What made this project especially meaningful wasn’t just the scale it was the trust.
From our earliest conversations, the clients articulated their style with clarity and confidence. They gravitated toward what we lovingly call a layered, grandpa aesthetic: collected, warm, storied spaces that feel as though they’ve evolved over time rather than been designed all at once. Think cozy sophistication, lived-in charm, and rooms that invite you to linger. It was an aesthetic we immediately connected with and one we were thrilled to bring to life.
Another detail we came to appreciate deeply … The home’s lower ceiling heights. In a time when soaring ceilings and ultra-modern volumes dominate the design conversation, this home offered something refreshingly different. The proportions created an inherent sense of intimacy, allowing us to lean into texture, pattern, and layered furnishings in a way that felt grounded and timeless. It was a reminder that good design isn’t about following trends it’s about responding thoughtfully to the architecture you’re given.
As the months went on, our collaboration evolved into something more familiar and fluid. Decisions were made with ease. Creative risks were welcomed. There was a shared understanding that allowed the process to feel both efficient and deeply enjoyable for everyone involved.
We are so honored to now be turning our focus towards a new chapter a ground-up lake house vacation home! What began as interior updates has grown into a long-term partnership rooted in trust, shared vision, and a genuine love for creating homes that feel collected, comfortable, and personal.
